What do the STD panels include?
Many people ask if they are getting tested for everything. While you can’t get tested for every possible communicable disease, we can screen you for common diseases you are likely to contract. The STD panels include testing for HIV, hepatitis, syphilis, herpes, chlamydia and N. gonorrhea.
The $249 STD panel also includes testing for Herpes Simplex Type 1 and Hepatitis C. The standard AMH panel does not include these tests because we feel in most cases these tests are not necessary components of an STD panel. The AMH panel for $229 is recommended unless you are specifically concerned about having Herpes Simplex type 1 or you have had a blood exposure or needlestick. (Please call if you have questions.)
How long should I wait to get tested?
Some of these infections can be detected almost right away; others can take as long as three months. If you are concerned about a recent exposure (with in the last 3 months) you might consider advanced technologies for recent exposure, or testing now along with a follow up screening. Whatever you decide, we can get you tested privately for one reasonable cost, and get your results returned to you before you even could get in for an appointment somewhere else.
What if it has not been 3 months from my exposure, but I still want to know something now?
Not everyone has the same needs, so we have different ways to get tested. For no additional cost, we can divide our traditional panel up and test you for what you are ready to test for now, and save the rest of the testing until later. If you do not want to wait to know your status on some STDs you might consider an Early Detection STD Panel, which can detect infection well before 3 months. If you are not concerned about a specific exposure you may just take the Standard AMH STD Panel every once in a while.
