Reasons for Drug Testing
Court-Ordered Drug Tests
Courts will often require a drug test to rule out or monitor drug use. Court ordered drug tests often carry strict and urgent deadlines. Testing arrangements can usually be made the same day that you call, and usually within 1-3 days fully court admissible test results are available. The most common drug screen is the 5 panel urine drug test; however, some courts will request that certain drugs not included in the 5 panel, such as benzodiazepines or barbiturates, are checked for. Other times a blood or hair follicle test may be requested, so it is a good idea to confirm all of this information with the court and/or lawyer before making any arrangements for testing.
Testing teens and loved ones
Suspecting drug use by a teen or family member can be a difficult issue and uncomfortable to confront. However, testing for drug use can be an easy and effective way to get reliable answers. The testing process is simple and results are fast. Depending on the type of drug or time of suspected use, a test expert may suggest different types of testing, such as the hair follicle drug test for past use or different drugs. Often times, a negative test result can be the beginning of a newfound trust and commitment. If you are concerned about drug use, a test may be the only way to know for certain.
Post Rehab testing
Watching someone struggle with substance abuse and addiction can be extremely difficult, and the period following rehab is particularly challenging. Being in the outside world offers many opportunities to fall back into drug use and old habits, but the ability to provide negative drug test results is an incentive to stay clean. Consistent evaluation and therapy techniques reduce the chance of relapse, and can strengthen bonds and relationships that may have once been lost. Rehab does not end at the end of the program, but rather it is an ongoing process. Consistent evaluation, counseling and testing is an easy way to keep life on track and priorities in focus.
Personal Reference Verification
These days every little detail counts in the competitive job market, and prospective employees are doing everything they can to gain an edge on other applicants. Providing a negative drug report before an employer requests it is a great way to show responsibility, respect, and also show just what kind of person you are. More and more companies are operating drug-free workplaces, and providing these results ahead of time demonstrates that you are onboard with the policies and workplace rules.
