Chlamydia Transmission
Chlamydia is transmitted by engaging in vaginal, anal, and/or oral sex with an infected person.
Window Period
For reliable results it is encouraged to wait at least 3-5 days after any possible exposure; however, if symptoms are present it is encouraged to test as soon as possible.
Specimen/Fasting
There is no painful swab or embarrassing exams, this test is performed using only a urine sample. Patients are required to avoid urination for at least one hour prior to testing to ensure reliable results.
CDC Recommendations:
CDC recommends annual screening for sexually active women under age 26, and also for older women with multiple partners.
Sex partners of an infected person should also be tested/treated in order to prevent re-infection.
Men who have sex with men (MSM) should be tested at least annually at all sites of exposure (pharyngeal, urethral, and anal/rectal).
